About The Position

The purpose of this role is to enforce pool rules and regulations while monitoring pool usage to ensure the safety of the public.

Requirements

  • Sixteen (16) years of age or High school diploma and 1 – 2 years of previous lifeguarding experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must have a valid Georgia Driver's License.
  • Candidates must pass the required pre-swim test and obtain certifications in First Aid training that includes, Lifeguarding, Swimming & Water Safety, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for Infant, Child, and Adult and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • This training must be from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association or attend paid training with the City of Forest Park.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employed drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Always practice preventative lifeguarding techniques to protect the health, safety, and welfare of community pool patrons.
  • Maintain constant surveillance by visually and systematically scanning assigned zones to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Enforce all Aquatic Center policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Identify hazardous conditions and eliminate or minimize them to ensure safety.
  • Recognize and respond effectively to incidents and emergencies.
  • Provide proper emergency care (first aid/resuscitation/CPR/AED) when necessary.
  • Report unsafe/unsatisfactory conditions and behaviors to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and organized pool area.
  • Test water and complete chemical log records.
  • Teach quality swim lessons in accordance with current American Red Cross standards and guidelines.
  • Be prepared and organized when teaching swimming lessons.
  • Maintain a safe and controlled class environment when teaching.
  • Interact in a positive and effective manner with parents and participants.
  • Properly complete assigned records and reports.
  • Candidates must be willing to work weekends, evening hours and holidays.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
