About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Senior Lifecycle Systems Engineer in our Chantilly, VA office to support the systems engineering, integration, and testing efforts in support of a marquis space resiliency program. As part of our Space Ground Systems (SGS) business unit, you will join a very talented, highly motivated, and high-performing team with the design, development, integration, test and deployment of complex systems, contributing to mission success for a variety of tenant stakeholders. Responsibilities: Supports the Program Functional Engineering Team in system engineering, requirements analysis, system integration, design, architecture, and software engineering support Support technical authority over the program's technical decisions through request for change and configuration control board acceptance processes and will provide technical support to multiple integrated product teams Coordinate closely with program's technical team leads and product owners to develop and implement system-wide technical solutions Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates, and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning, design, and acquisition logistics Generates Systems Engineering process(s) to support the program mission and execution, as needed. Ensure requirements comply with customer and tenant requirements along with government standards through formal verification methods Translates high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications working with other engineering disciplines to develop and implement system-wide lower-level detailed technical requirements Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development Designs, interfaces, and brings system elements together as a collective unit Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts with system architects Coordinates updates and reviews of program CDRLs for periodic delivery Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements

Requirements

  • Associates degree and 10+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field; OR bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field; or a master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field.
  • Additional Four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
  • Experience with full life cycle software/system engineering to include requirements analysis, design, architecture, integration, and testing
  • Demonstrated requirements management experience
  • Experience with requirements testing processes in support of government programs
  • Experience with risk management in the areas of identification and mitigation; along with CMMI and QA processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency on Microsoft Windows office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Detail oriented, and a strong communicator able to work and collaborate within a group setting for internal and customer-facing engagements.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with both DoD and associated policies/procedures is desired, with an emphasis on high level systems architecture and design
  • Knowledge and understanding of Space Operations and the Space Domain Awareness (SDA) environment.
  • Experience leading junior engineers and establishing technical goals on a program

  • Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures
  • Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts with system architects
  • Coordinates updates and reviews of program CDRLs for periodic delivery
  • Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation
  • Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements
