About The Position

This position will be responsible for the maintenance, continuous improvement, and discontinuation of legacy products, as well as engineering and designing special product modifications of legacy products in close collaboration with the manufacturing, sales support, and customer service teams. This person must have a clear understanding of design and manufacturing requirements and be able to quickly realize product improvements and respond to product warranty and quality issues with vetted engineering solutions. Lifecycle product engineers will also be responsible for special legacy product modifications by working closely with sales support to provide one-off offerings for customers while adhering to design intent, quality, product gross margin requirements and consumer safety. The most successful candidates will be excellent communicators who manage projects independently and who effectively share technical information with sales, customer service, supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing team members.

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent skill level, training, or experience in the related field is preferred.
  • Must be able to analyze data from many variables and apply engineering calculations to design structural solutions.
  • Must be proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD engineering software, Microsoft Office, blueprint reading, and project management.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, cellular manufacturing, and the properties of materials used in site furniture such as HDPE, steel, aluminum, wood, concrete, and composites.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working independently in an office setting while supporting a collaborative, fast-paced team.

Nice To Haves

  • SolidWorks Simulation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and product engineering team members to improve product performance, quality, margin, and safety.
  • Support and manage special product modification requests from sales support while engineering and modeling potential product solutions in CAD.
  • Resolve concept issues of design, function, materials, durability, and manufacturing with cost-effective solutions.
  • Participate in the creation of prototypes in partnership with manufacturing to validate concepts as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with in-house engineering procedures. Including tolerance stack-ups, test log documentation, and others.
  • Evaluate performance criteria for product validation, facilitate testing, and manage test documentation.
  • Facilitate collaborative brainstorming for concept development.
  • Graphically, physically, and verbally detail specific engineering and quality constraints.
  • Stay abreast of current technology related to materials, manufacturing technologies, and testing guidelines.
  • Document prototype revisions to effectively communicate project data to the team.
