The Impact You’ll Make in this Role The Life Support Specialist is responsible for the daily monitoring of life support conditions and preventative maintenance of all water and filtration systems within the animal and public areas. You will also be responsible for maintaining the water quality throughout the Zoo. As a Life Support Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in San Antonio. Here, you will make an impact by: Responsible for water quality throughout the Zoo; including testing, assessing test results, and treating with chemicals as needed. Maintenance of filtration pumps, ozone generators, inline heaters, gas-fired aquatic boilers, and equipment associated with life support and water treatment. Backwashing large exhibits and filters. Maintain potable water system in the best condition for water conservation. Monitor the Zoo’s well water system. Operate safely zoo vehicles including pick-up trucks, forklift, and bobcat. Maintain and inspect backflows. Assist with the design and building of new and/or revamped water features, life support systems, and other moving water displays. Maintain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification; re-certify when needed. Upholds all company policies as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures, Team Member Handbook, and Code of Business Conduct. Consistently exhibit an attitude of service inside and outside of the zoo, showing hospitality to all.
