Responsible for providing life skills coaching and education to HopeSource clients. Coaches collaborate with participants to set personalized goals related to employment and personal finance, develop action plans to meet their goals, and support, motivate, and provide feedback as participants pursue their goals.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to establish rapport with diverse people and groups
  • Ability to share curriculum and effectively lead discussion groups of 5-15 people
  • Creative problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with disadvantaged populations is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom workshops on a host of life skills curriculum
  • Conduct 1:1 coaching with agency clients
  • Coordinate with program staff to place clients in Hope U Life Skills and Work Skills classes and ensure that educational goal component of client’s Family Stability Plans are met
  • Utilize compassionate yet practical problem-solving conversations to identify the individual’s strengths and resources
  • Teach useful emotional and behavioral regulation techniques
  • Encourage participants to set their own specific, short- and long-term goals that are meaningful to them and that they are motivated to achieve
  • Work with participants to develop action plans based on attainable steps and short-term goals
  • Support, motivate, and provide feedback as participants pursue their goals
  • Express belief in participants’ ability to succeed and celebrate participants’ accomplishments
  • Work with participants to strengthen their self-regulation skills and/or match goals, jobs, and services to participants’ self-regulation abilities.
  • Evaluate, track and assess curriculum effectiveness, working with manager to revise as necessary for optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate case file documentation, client characteristics, and program utilization in agency database
  • Preparation of program reports, as required by funding source and management
