About The Position

Our team of architects, engineers, and technical specialists delivers integrated solutions for laboratory and pharmaceutical facilities across the country. We are seeking a Life Sciences Facility Planner with strong laboratory planning experience to support front-end strategy and early design for pharmaceutical, QC, and research laboratory environments. This role is grounded in laboratory workflow and space planning, with opportunities to contribute to broader pharmaceutical manufacturing facility layouts as our portfolio continues to grow. Youll focus on front-end planning and early design, translating operational workflows into efficient, compliant, and well-integrated facility layouts. We are open to candidates with approximately 310+ years of experience .

Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture or related field.
  • Experience in laboratory planning within pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or research environments.
  • Strong expertise in laboratory space planning, adjacency development, and workflow-driven layout strategy.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP environments and laboratory regulatory considerations.
  • Experience facilitating programming sessions with scientific or quality stakeholders.
  • Comfort navigating early-phase planning where operational needs are evolving.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Clear interest in front-end planning and client engagement this is not a production-focused role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support laboratory programming workshops with scientific, quality, and operational stakeholders.
  • Translate user requirements into clear lab space programs, adjacency diagrams, and workflow-driven layouts.
  • Develop planning strategies for: QC and analytical laboratories Research and development labs Support spaces including sample receipt, chemical storage, and controlled environments
  • Integrate laboratory safety, equipment strategy, biosafety, and contamination control considerations into spatial solutions.
  • Apply regulatory and cGMP planning principles for pharmaceutical and regulated lab environments.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, lab renovations, master planning efforts, and early-phase planning initiatives.
  • Contribute to elevations, visual studies, and renderings to communicate laboratory design intent.
  • Support pharmaceutical manufacturing layouts and process-driven facility planning efforts as needed.
  • Coordinate closely with GBAs integrated in-house architects, engineers, and preconstruction professionals.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, primarily through early design phases (~30%).
  • Depending on experience, you may independently lead smaller laboratory projects or guide significant portions of larger multidisciplinary efforts.
