About The Position

Noblis is seeking a qualified technical intern for Summer 2026 with course work and coding experience for protein design, bioinformatics, and/or metabolic flux modeling experiments. The candidate will work with a small team of Noblis scientists to advance synthetic biology research and molecular/chemical/metal ion detection. This role is to support several cutting edge Noblis Sponsored Research (NSR) projects. The ideal candidate is motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, has a positive attitude and a passion for applied research.

Requirements

  • A GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, bioinformatics, or similar domain with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and May 2028
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • A high degree of ethical and scientific standards

Nice To Haves

  • Coding, protein modeling, and bioinformatics experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with BSL-2 safety procedures is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform protein, cell co-culture, and nucleic acid modeling experiments.
  • Set up, execute, and analyze protein, cell co-culture, and nucleic acid modeling experiments in Noblis’s HPC and locally
  • Collaborate with the laboratory team design experiments to test protein models
  • Meet at least weekly with the team to outline, monitor, and close a summer project.
  • Present results to Noblis scientists for discussion and analysis.
  • Prepare a final report and oral presentation.
  • Stay abreast of the scientific literature on project-related topics.
  • Work autonomously and in a team environment with a positive collegial attitude.
