About the job: In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Life Safety Specialist provides direct Life Safety oversight for all MCHS offsite locations (currently 37) to include all applicable healthcare required testing for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual life safety building components. Responsible for managing relationships with building landlords and holding fire alarm and sprinkler inspections vendors accountable to conditions and terms agreed to for maintaining safe environments for MCHS patients, colleagues and visitors.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate degree in Environmental Engineering or Health and Safety or similar discipline required.
  • Experience: Two (2) to four (4) years of experience working in environmental safety or similar field.
  • Displays proficiency in performing environmental tours, safety training, fire drills and emergency exercises.
  • Ability to review and interpret life safety features/blueprints

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred, but outside of the healthcare environment provided that they can effectively demonstrate code knowledge and basic understanding of process improvement for developing performance indicators to monitor and track for quality improvement purposes.

  • Investigates, coordinates all non-compliant fire and life safety issues at all off-site locations.
  • Continuously monitors the environment and initiates reporting and corrective action for identified life safety deficiencies.
  • Designs and conducts continuing education/training sessions for employees to maximize their safety and provide a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Instructs associates on proper safety techniques in accordance with policies & procedures, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provides consulting services offsite locations that may include professional advice, recommendation, evaluation, inspection, training development, assistance, or other tasks.
  • Makes necessary recommendations as appropriate to ensure regulatory and accreditation agency compliance.
