Life Safety/Security Communications Specialist – JLL What this job involves: As a Life Safety/Security Communications Specialist, you'll serve as the critical first response point in our fast-paced private sector operations center, ensuring the safety and security of personnel and company assets across multiple facilities. This essential role combines excellent customer service with emergency response expertise as you monitor sophisticated security systems, dispatch emergency services, and coordinate with global business continuity teams. You'll be the vital communication link between on-site personnel, emergency responders, and corporate leadership during both routine operations and critical incidents. Working in a dynamic 24/7 environment, you'll maintain situational awareness of all security, life safety, and facility systems while providing immediate support that directly impacts employee safety and business continuity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to quickly learn multiple software applications and work request systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong emphasis on customer service and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while working both independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to sit for extended periods during 12-hour shifts and willingness to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as an essential employee
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to function effectively in a dynamic work environment requiring quick decision-making and priority management

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in related field or 2+ years of experience in security operations, law enforcement, emergency medical services, or fire services
  • Current certifications in Public Safety Telecommunicator I, Emergency Medical Dispatch, CPR, or Emergency Medical Technician
  • Technical experience with security systems including C-Cure 9000 Access Control, Milestone video surveillance, and CISCO phone systems
  • Knowledge of threat assessment procedures and emergency mass notification systems
  • Experience with CAD systems, incident reporting, and emergency response coordination
  • Background in monitoring fire systems, communicating with third-party monitoring companies, and managing system impairments

Responsibilities

  • Receive, evaluate, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls using Emergency Medical Dispatch protocols while providing pre-arrival instructions and coordinating appropriate response resources
  • Monitor and operate integrated security systems including access control (C-Cure 9000), video surveillance (Milestone), fire alarm systems, and critical system alarms across multiple client facilities
  • Create, monitor, and manage work orders using Corrigo CMMS while coordinating with facility operations, security, and EH&S teams to ensure timely incident resolution
  • Utilize Critical Event Management platforms to disseminate urgent communications to key stakeholders and account for personnel during major events or emergencies
  • Serve as primary liaison between JLL site personnel and external emergency services including police, fire, EMS, and HazMat teams during incidents and emergencies
  • Complete detailed incident reports using CAD systems and maintain accurate documentation of all dispatches, system monitoring activities, and emergency responses
  • Research critical information using available resources, identify priority issues for escalation, and suggest operational improvements based on observed patterns and opportunities
