This is a 3rd shift vacancy 10pm - 7am Sunday - Thursday Shift differentials may apply Job Description General Functions: Coordinates and/or performs technical work associated with the electronic fire alarm systems and sprinkler systems for over 7.3 million square feet of conditioned building space at the Orange County Convention Center. The responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, operation of all Convention Center Life Safety systems. This position requires in-depth knowledge of NFPA codes, the Florida Fire Prevention Code and full knowledge of diagnostic techniques for all related life safety systems. Provides instruction on system operation procedures to other Convention Center staff. This is a 3rd Shift position that works five (5) days per week, from 10pm to 7am, with a 1 hour lunch and a weekend workday (Saturday or Sunday). Representative Duties/Assignments: Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification. Oversees various components of the Convention Center life safety systems and provides leadership (guidance) to staff assigned to monitor the systems. Ensures compliance with specific regulations related to inspection and maintenance of the fire alarm, fire sprinkler systems and smoke control systems. Specifies equipment to be purchased for life safety systems to ensure compatibility. Troubleshoots system defects and coordinates repairs with contractors. Handles day-to-day issues associated with the life safety electronic systems. Coordinates with building clients and in-house Event managers to resolve client equipment interface issues and maintain systems to ensure any negative impact on clients. Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards. Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution and three (3) years of experience in area of assignment. In lieu of the degree requirements additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
  • Life Safety Electronic Systems
  • Experience in programming, testing and inspecting electronic fire alarm systems. Working knowledge of test equipment to include multi-meters, digital analyzers, battery analyzers, frequency meters, decibel meters and communication devices.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in Electronics, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience in maintaining job site documentation (example, time sheets, as-built drawings).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
  • Proficient in use and application of personal computers including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to set up, program, and test basic TCP/IP networks.
  • Experienced with working at Convention Centers, Arenas, or other large public venues.
  • Experienced with Johnson Controls ¿ Simplex networked fire alarm systems and Truesite workstations
