About The Position

The Pillars of Mankato provides independent living, assisted living, and memory care apartments for seniors in a specially designed community. We incorporate the seven components of wellness (emotional, physical, intellectual, spiritual, social, environmental, and occupational) into our 118 units that make up The Pillars. Located near US 14 and 169's crossroads, located in Mankato, MN. The Life Enrichment Assistant assists the Life Enrichment Director with planning, implementing, and evaluating the life enrichment programming, which provides for the optimization of resident physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cognitive well-being. Life Enrichment Assistants help bring to life Ebenezer's cornerstones: Life Long Learning, Dimensions Program for Dementia Care, Crafted Culinary, Spiritual Care, Wellness and Intergenerational Programming This Life Enrichment schedule includes; 32 hours per two weeks ; Part Time Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 3pm-7pm and every other weekend from 1:30pm-4:30pm Every other weekend and holiday rotation

Requirements

  • 0-1 years of experience
  • Working knowledge of basic Microsoft applications
  • Must be able to work irregular hours, occasional weekends, and evenings
  • Hold a current Driver's License in good standing
  • Be at least 18+ years old and insurable under employers Auto Insurance Coverage
  • Must complete and pass in-house transportation curriculum course and pass the driving evaluation within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Assists with life enrichment programs and activities:
  • Leads social events and activity programs.
  • Conducts exercise class for residents.
  • Communicates and coordinates life enrichment programs with all departments.
  • Assists other departments with special events and family functions.
  • Documents as required.
  • Offers suggestions and ideas to the Life Enrichment Director to improve the programming.
  • Assists in meeting the psychosocial needs of residents:
  • Assists with the planning and execution of individual, small or large group outings outside the building, including assisting residents with boarding and deboarding from vehicles safely.
  • Encourages resident participation.
  • Reports change in resident attitude, mood, or physical status to appropriate staff.
  • Promotes resident independence by offering choices and fostering self-help skills.
  • Assists residents in developing relationships and effectively socializing
  • Drives Ebenezer van/bus for resident outings:
  • Reviews and completes Vehicle Requirements- Transporting Residents Checklist prior to each resident outing
  • Maintains a log of transportation services and tasks performed throughout the driving period
  • Responsible for the safety and welfare of passengers
  • Practices sound, safe judgment when performing transportation services, including but not limited to: fire/disaster procedures and infection control procedures
  • Recognizes and acts appropriately on safety hazards and incidents
  • Follows all laws with regard to operating a motor vehicle.
  • Immediately reports any traffic violations or accidents
