What sets Amaro apart is a commitment to clear communication, measurable results, and client care. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Lien Specialist to join our personal injury team. This role is responsible for managing, negotiating, and resolving all medical and insurance liens related to personal injury cases. The ideal candidate has strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of healthcare and insurance billing, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced legal environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a personal injury law firm, medical billing, insurance claims, or lien resolution preferred.
  • Strong understanding of medical billing, CPT/ICD codes, and health insurance processes.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, request, and verify all potential medical, governmental, and insurance liens for each case.
  • Maintain accurate lien logs and updates within the case management system.
  • Communicate with hospitals, medical providers, health insurers, government agencies (Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE), and subrogation vendors to negotiate lien reductions.
  • Prepare and submit required documentation to support reductions (financial hardship, treatment records, legal arguments, etc.).
  • Achieve fair and reasonable settlements that maximize client net recovery.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state lien laws and payor requirements, including Medicare Secondary Payer rules.
  • Draft settlement allocation letters and obtain final lien amounts prior to case disbursement.
  • Maintain detailed records of all communications, negotiation efforts, and lien resolutions.
  • Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, case managers and settlement closing coordinators to finalize cases efficiently.
  • Provide periodic updates on lien status to the legal team.
  • Assist with settlement calculations.
