About The Position

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Licensing – Gaming Commission the Licensing Investigator II is responsible for mentoring and training a team of Licensing Investigators and assessing their work product prior to submission of suitability reports to Licensing Management. The role is also responsible for conducting more complex license suitability investigations as directed by Licensing Management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Mentors Licensing Investigators to ensure timely submission of background files, monitors team workload, recommends duty shifts based on caseload metrics, and provides second-tier support for escalated issues. 2. Monitors and reviews Licensing Investigator’s licensing files for accuracy and proper formulation of decisions regarding the applicant’s suitability. Provides training and guidance to Licensing Investigators to ensure adherence to new and existing regulations and procedures. 3. Conducts comprehensive background investigations using diverse investigative tools to assess applicant suitability for gaming licensure. 4. Applies tribal, state, and federal regulations along with Gaming Commission policies to each investigation to ensure compliance with licensing requirements. 5. Prepares and participates in licensing suspension and revocation hearings as required. 6. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum six (6) years of investigative experience within Law Enforcement, Gaming Licensing Agency, Insurance Industry or other Regulatory Environment is required.
  • General proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish rapport quickly and communicate well with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be able to produce clear and concise written reports, using proper punctuation and grammar.
  • Must have excellent problem solving, organization, time-management and prioritization skills.
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • Role requires regular commuting between locations.
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required.
  • Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
