About The Position

This is an advanced professional position. The primary duty of the employee(s) in the position (s) allocated to this class is to spend majority of the time measuring identified childcare programs, investigating potential abuse cases in licensed childcare programs and illegally operating programs identified by outside entities or persons. This employee (s) will also maintain a caseload of 25 childcare providers in Hillsborough County and will complete all assigned inspections from this caseload. How you will make an impact Supervise, plan and conduct onsite measurements, inspections and abuse investigations while working alongside CPI, Law Enforcement, Code Enforcement, Department of Health and other community partners and stakeholders, while conducting investigations of alleged abused, abandoned, neglected, or exploited children. This is a professional position specializing in counseling, casework, and administrative activities in Childcare.

Requirements

  • Childcare Experience preferred
  • Reliable and valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
  • Must possess operational private vehicle for use in the performance of daily work activities. Selected applicants are required to provide proof of vehicle registration and documentation of the appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Knowledge of theories and practice in child welfare.
  • Knowledge of interviewing and observation techniques.
  • Ability to recognize indicators of abuse and neglect.
  • Ability to conduct risk and safety investigations.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to understand and apply relevant laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains tracking system to ensure inspection timeframes are met and the correct number of inspections are completed annually.
  • Investigates complaints on licensed providers and illegal childcare operations. Prepares reports and initiates Prepares reports and initiates administrative action as required by statute and/or Childcare Regulation Standards.
  • Inputs and updates provider database, CARES, on a regular basis and develop administrative actions as required by statute and/or Childcare Licensing Standards.
  • Develops performance standards and job duty expectations with investigators, reviews standards and plans for continuous improvement.
  • Evaluates employees against established standards and takes any necessary steps for corrective action.
  • Reviews casework, complaints, inspections with investigators, and provides consultation and direction to assure appropriateness, clarity, quality, thoroughness, and proper documentation.
  • Use management tools in appropriate information system(s) on an ongoing basis to monitor open cases and manage workflow for steady progress to ensure the timeline for actions to be taken are met and to prevent backlog.
  • Identifies improvements and implements adjustments needed to ensure program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports data regarding child protective investigations.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with organizations and other agencies involved with child protective investigations such as community-based providers, Children’s Legal Services, law enforcement, medical personnel, schools, and other community/agency resources.
