For more exciting information about the Department of Revenue, please enjoy this brief video!  The Auto Industry Division (AID) is responsible for regulating the sales, licensing, and operations of motor vehicle dealers in the state of Colorado, pursuant to CRS Title 44, Article 20.  The AID ensures compliance with state laws, issues licenses, investigates complaints, and enforces regulations to protect consumers and maintain a fair and transparent marketplace for motor vehicle sales.  This position is critical to supporting and accomplishing the overall mission and vision of the Division. This will be a second level supervisor who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Background Investigation Team and Licensing Team. Functions include second level review of Motor Vehicle and Powersports license applications for Manufacturers, Distributors, Manufacturers Reps, Business Disposers, Dealers, Wholesalers, Auctions, Salespeople, and Buyers Agents and the background investigations conducted on these applications.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of relevant experience in a regulatory work environment interpreting and applying rules and statutes. One of those years which year must have been at the level of a team leader, work leader, staff authoiry, unit supervisor, or equivalent.
  • A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to seven (7) years, one (1) of which must have been at the level of a team leader, work leader, staff authority, unit supervisor, or equivalent
  • Applicants must successfully pass a Level I & Level II background investigation and a tax check prior to appointment to position in the Auto Industry Division.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License (at the time of application).

Responsibilities

  • Position serves as the supervisor for the Background Investigation Team and Licensing Team. Directly supervises Compliance Investigators and Licensing staff; schedules work, makes task and investigation assignments, schedules leave and other time off, reviews and approves time sheets, reviews and corrects work, conducts performance plans and appraisals; assigns, reviews and approves training requests.
  • Reviews and assists in writing unit policies and procedures.
  • This position is a supervisory position and typical problems associated with a supervisor would range from fielding complaints against a staff member, to conducting an internal investigation and initiating a corrective action.
  • Overseeing and developing schedules for direct reports.
  • Monitors ongoing investigations and licensing functions to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Works with applicants, licensees and management in order to determine the appropriate course of action to accomplish the desired outcome.
  • Promotes positive relationships with licensees throughout the licensing and background investigation process, and resolves conflicts with licensees, or directs them to the appropriate higher authority.
  • Communicates results (findings, recommendations, etc.) to Deputy Director, and/or Division Director.
  • Position is responsible for independent plans, coordinates, directs, tracks, supervises subordinate employees who perform these duties.
  • Responsible for the supervision and day-to-day operations of the Background Investigation Team and licensing Team.
  • Provides direction, guidance and responds to questions from direct reports by addressing problem ares on a daily  basis.
