About The Position

The Hospital for Veterinary Surgery is New York City’s first and only surgery-exclusive veterinary hospital, and we’re growing our team. Our 10,000+ square foot, clinician-designed facility in the heart of Manhattan is built for one purpose: delivering exceptional surgical care with genuine compassion. With four cutting-edge operating rooms, advanced imaging like a 128-slice CT and fluoroscopy, and dedicated post-operative support, we give every patient the skill, attention, and comfort they deserve in their journey to recovery. HVS is seeking a skilled, motivated Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our talented clinical team. Whether your background is in general practice, emergency or you’ve already worked in surgery or critical care, this is a unique opportunity to take your skills to the next level in a state-of-the-art hospital designed for learning, teamwork, and excellence. In this role, you’ll work as a Veterinary Nurse rotating across a range of support areas. Requirements

  • Licensure in New York State required
  • 2+ years of experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician
  • Adaptability, being able to pivot effortlessly while demonstrating a positive attitude with clients and co-workers
  • Expert time management skills
  • Highly organized and acute attention to detail
  • Sound judgment with the ability to work ethically, independently, and responsibly
  • Resourceful and collaborative problem resolution skills
  • Strong and respectful written and verbal communication skills
  • Dedication to excellent service for each client and patient
  • Openness to feedback, coaching, and continuous learning

Nice To Haves

  • Anesthesia, Critical Care or ICU experience a plus
  • Experience with practice management software, (ezyVet is our in-house platform)

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, hands-on care to surgical and hospitalized patients
  • Prep patients for surgery, assist in monitoring anesthesia, and support post-op recoveries
  • Place and manage IV catheters, administer medications, and monitor vitals
  • Assist with blood draws, bandaging, oxygen supplementation, and patient rounds
  • Communicate with clients during check-ins, updates, and discharges
  • Work closely with a collaborative team of doctors, specialists, and fellow nurse
  • Contribute to a supportive, respectful hospital culture built on shared purpose and mutual trust
