About The Position

Urban Wellness is a clinician-centered, woman-owned, neurodivergent (AuDHD), lesbian-owned private group practice in Chicago. TL;DR: What We’re Looking For We’re hiring licensed therapists who can help us meet the needs of our current and waitlisted clients—especially those seeking: In‑person care (primary need, option for hybrid) Child and adolescent therapy (high need) Couples therapy (high need) Evening and/or weekend appointments Here’s what to expect: Candidates who are ready to provide primarily in-person work in our beautiful Chicago offices, with telehealth available as needed, are preferred. All clinicians must work two in‑office days required each week (most clinicians choose to be onsite more due to client preference). Availability for no less than two evenings until 8 PM, or one evening + one weekend shift. Full‑time clinical load: No less than 30 hours open for clients; average 25 sessions/week completed. Documentation: Notes completed within 48 hours. Client populations: Strong preference for clinicians who enjoy working with children, teens, couples, and clients who prefer in-person connection We expect all team members to engage meaningfully in our ongoing antiracism and anti‑oppression work. Requirements

  • LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, LSW, or LPC in the state of Illinois
  • Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in counseling or social work
  • Active, unrestricted license (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT or LCPC) in the State of Illinois.
  • Must be fully licensed. A copy of your license must be provided to Urban Wellness before working with patients.
  • Three (3) years’ experience as an independently licensed clinician; fully-unrestricted licensure.
  • Have at least one (1) niche market for counseling services (i.e., children, teens, trauma, anxiety, grief, anger management, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of human behavior, psychological assessment, evidence-based treatment, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Understanding of group dynamics, cultural factors, and societal influences on mental health.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a genuine commitment to helping clients and supporting colleagues.
  • Open to feedback; able to remain calm in crisis situations.
  • Flexible, adaptable, organized, and attentive to details.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal reminders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace and Electronic Health Records systems.

  • Current approval as an in-network provider with BCBS is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, couples, or family counseling via in-person sessions and telehealth in alignment with Urban Wellness policies and professional ethics.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism to support and enhance Urban Wellness’ reputation of providing consistent, high quality services to the community.
  • Respond to client inquiries within established timeframes and complete timely assessments, treatment planning, and therapeutic services.
  • Complete all required clinical documentation—intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans, and termination summaries—accurately and by weekly deadlines.
  • Maintain up-to-date client records and collaborate with other providers (e.g., PCPs, psychiatrists, schools) as needed to support continuity of care.
  • Collect client payments according to Urban Wellness procedures.
