About The Position

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board as a Part-time Licensed Therapist to work in the new BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center, supporting the Crisis Stabilization Unit and the 23-Hour program. With a pay rate of $35.11/hr. , this on-site position is perfect for licensed LMFTs, LCSWs, or LPCs who are passionate about providing empathetic counseling in a professional, team-oriented environment. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with individuals in crisis, utilizing your skills as a Counselor to foster recovery and promote safety. A little about us Since 1971, the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with a mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. We proudly opened the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center in April 2025 to increase access to services for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. What does a Licensed Therapist do? As a Licensed Therapist at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center you will support the Crisis Stabilization Unit and the 23-Hour program. You'll play a vital role in our Crisis Services, which encompass emergency counseling, respite, intervention, and short-stay stabilization. You will manage a caseload of clients living with mental illness and substance-related disorders, collaborating with the agency's Crisis Continuum, Clinical Services, and other Region-V CSBs. Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, you will conduct rapid assessments, evaluations, and crisis interventions while monitoring psychiatric and medical needs. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing individual and group therapy, psychoeducational services, and active coordination for care and stabilization. You will create tailored treatment plans that address the specific therapeutic needs of clients, ensuring effective follow-up and aftercare. Your work will have an immediate impact on clients' progress, playing a crucial role in promoting mental health recovery and enhancing the quality of counseling services provided.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in human services and a minimum of two (2) years post-graduate clinical experience, including therapeutic counseling, crisis intervention, and case management functions.
  • Licensed as a Mental Health Clinician, such as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP).
  • Must be eligible or approved for MCO credentialing.
