About The Position

The Licensed Psychotherapist is a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and is responsible for providing psychological intervention with the patients. Supervision by a licensed psychologist will be provided, as needed, in accordance with the therapists licensure and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. The Licensed Psychotherapist will report information to the treatment team to assure knowledge of cognitive and behavioral skills and deficits that will impact the overall treatment program. The Licensed Psychotherapist may be involved in collecting research data in compliance with approved research techniques and authorized procedures. The Licensed Psychotherapist may participate actively in professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels. The Licensed Psychotherapist will uphold the mission, philosophy, purpose, and goals of the organization while maintaining strict confidentiality of patient data and information in the performance of assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to independently provide professional psychological services.
  • Works harmoniously with supervisor, staff, and volunteers to generate productive work environment.
  • Possesses an understanding of the dynamics of brain trauma rehabilitation, family systems and chemical dependency.
  • Possesses strong communication skills.
  • Has knowledge of current social problems and stresses which may affect the mental health of the individual and family.
  • Understands the rehabilitation setting and the philosophy of care and treatment.
  • Masters Degree and licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Psychological Associate, LPC-Intern, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the Texas State Board of Examiners, or Licensed Master of Social Work, or Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor, or Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor, as long as masters degree completed in Psychology.
  • Minimum of one years experience in providing psychotherapy services to adult populations.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional experience in family therapy, treatment of chemical dependency, and experience treating individuals with acquired brain injury or related disorders in a rehabilitation setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts individual and family psychosocial assessments and evaluations.
  • Conducts psychotherapy and cognitive therapy in individual and group sessions.
  • Develops, trains, and implements patient behavior modification improvement plans, in collaboration with clinical and TA staff, as needed based on patient psychological presentations.
  • Develop a professional clinical impression, a supporting conclusion from evaluations, and consult with advanced clinicians/clinical specialists when appropriate.
  • Establish realistic, functional goals and treatment plan, adhering to department treatment and programming protocols.
  • Identify an appropriate duration of treatment
  • Provide discharge plan recommendations in collaboration with other clinical and case management staff
  • Complete all patient care documentation according to the expectations of the program, CARF, and third-party requirements. Documentation is to include the patients initial psychosocial assessment, daily treatment notes, monthly IPP reports, and discharge paperwork.
  • Documents pertinent incidents or observations and intervention implemented.
  • Performs advocacy services for the patient during implementation of the patients plan.
  • Works in conjunction with the Neuropsychologist in obtaining and reporting pertinent patient information.
  • Maintains active membership in professional organizations.
  • Promotes goals and mission of Moody Neuro by attending local, state, or national conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.
