About The Position

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for their Gibbsboro Primary Care office. This position will be Monday-Friday and will require one evening shift per week and a rotating Saturday shift. The shift and location will be based off of the operational need. One year of LPN and pediatric experience preferred. The Licensed Practical Nurse performs routine nursing care of the ill, injured or infirm under the direction of a licensed professional (RN) nurse, nurse practitioner and/or a physician. The LPN participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care in accordance with the scope of the LPN as defined by the State Board of Nursing and health system standards. Also supports operations through administrative duties as required. The nurse must demonstrate competence in caring for patients with moderate to complex health issues and assist the Site Manager with administrative issues which affect the clinical practices within the office as well as comply with the administrative policies and clinical protocols as outlined in policy and procedure manual. Administratively responsible to the Site Manager and Ambulatory Nursing Director for nursing practice issues. Must be willing to rotate if needed to other Care Network sites within the designated cluster.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma License Practical Nursing Program Required
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through an organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
  • Computer Competency
  • Basic use of a computer (mouse, keyboard, printer, USB ports).
  • Basic use of Microsoft Office (Word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and Skype).
  • Web browsing, intranet search, document access.
  • Use of shared network file space.
  • Basic use of patient facing technology. (e.g. IV pumps, point of care devices, CR monitors).
  • Navigation and use of clinical communication systems.
  • Information Literacy
  • Determines the nature and extent of clinical information needed and uses the appropriate technology to access it.

  • Ability to collect clinical data using quality improvement tools.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two (2) years experience in the medical field Preferred
  • Pediatric experience Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide and document direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
  • Nursing care is guided by physician orders and the plan of care. Patient response to care is reported to a registered nurse or physician for evaluation, intervention and modification of the plan of care.
  • Assist other health care personnel in the delivery of patient care.
  • Participate in maintaining the environment of care including equipment and other material resources.
  • Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies and attending educational offerings. Supports the development of other staff and formal learners.
  • Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assists in performance improvement activities.
  • The LPN may administer medications that are with their scope of practice and organizational standards only if the following conditions are met: a) the LPN has received and satisfactorily completed a Board approved educational program which requires study and supervised clinical practice intended to provide training necessary for administering immunizing agents. b)A written order has been issued by a licensed physician pertaining to an individual patient or group of patients, c) the LPN has knowledge of the health system policies and has met competency training standards.
  • Support clinical activities related to nursing and clinic flow and make recommendations to manager for improvement in quality and effectiveness of nursing care given.
  • Demonstrate commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing nursing practices to enhance safety. Share errors through system reporting mechanisms, and demonstrates shared accountability for safe practices.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
