About The Position

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Treat all individuals with dignity and respect while maintaining agency standards of confidentiality, professionalism and objectivity. Prepare patients for the practitioners, including taking and documenting vitals, reviewing and updating current medications, and providing patients with and recording appropriate screening documents. Prepare the practitioner for the patient with pertinent information. Travel to satellite locations and prepare patients in those locations to be seen by practitioners when necessary. Fax/call in medications when requested by practitioner. Record all medications (current and prescribed) in patient chart. Respond to “nursing line” messages and answer phone calls. Communicate necessary information regarding patient medications with pharmacies. Complete any required public heath forms. Check staff mailbox in the copier room daily. Provide injections. Meet with drug representatives. Facilitate appropriate responses and documentation to the courts re: any patients on committal. Distributing and charting sample medications and maintaining inventory log. Facilitate and document urinalyses when lab technician is unavailable. Ongoing communication with practitioners regarding any patient concerns or needs. Clean exam rooms. Talk/meet with patients who present with medication concerns and/or questions. Lab draws when ordered. Documentation of medical information in electronic health records. Administer esketamine per practitioner’s orders Cross over training for Opioid Treatment Program All other duties as defined by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed as an LPN in the State of Iowa, in good standing; certification preferred.
  • Supportive of the mission of Prairie Ridge and the patients we serve.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills, as well as documentation requirements.
  • Technology skills allowing for proficiency in the use of electronic health records.
  • Ability to be flexible, organized, and functional under stressful situations.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance on vehicle
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is often required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
