This position provides student care for illness, injuries, medications and procedures. It monitors health and safety concerns, such as crisis/disaster planning, and informs the Registered Nurse of students with health concerns and/or special needs. The LPN works as a team member with the school nurse, intervention specialist, counselor, principal, teachers, and parents. The District serves a diverse community with over 50% of students from diverse backgrounds, and seeks an individual with successful experience working with culturally diverse families and communities, demonstrating a commitment to strengthening community engagement and communication. The Licensed Practical Nurse works under the supervision of a school nurse or administrator, who provides policy and procedural direction and guidance, and is available for difficult situations and emergencies. The LPN must follow and comply with local and state codes and appropriate health authority requirements.
