About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the back office of a behavioral health outpatient clinic provides essential nursing support to clinicians and patients. The LPN assists with clinical procedures, patient assessments, medication administration, and coordination of care, ensuring a safe and efficient clinical environment. This role requires a compassionate approach tailored to the unique needs of individuals with behavioral health conditions.

Requirements

  • Current and valid LPN license in Maryland
  • Minimum of 1-2 years nursing experience, preferably in behavioral health or outpatient settings.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health conditions and medications is preferred.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and clinical documentation.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for performing injections and handling clinical equipment.
  • Ability to assist patients with mobility as needed.
  • Ability to stand/walk for 60% of the shift and lift up to 20-30 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clinicians during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, weight, and other relevant clinical data.
  • Administer medications and injections as prescribed, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Perform routine clinical tasks such as EKGs, blood draws, and specimen collection.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and report concerns promptly.
  • Triage patient concerns and communicate changes in condition to the clinical team.
  • Provide patient education on medication use, side effects, and self-care strategies.
  • Support patients in managing chronic behavioral health conditions.
  • Accurately document clinical findings, procedures, and patient interactions in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and clinic policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Assist with scheduling, rescheduling, and census management as needed.
  • Support front office functions during peak times or staff shortages.
  • Maintain clinical supplies and ensure proper storage of medications and equipment.
