About The Position

KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: HEALTH DIRECTOR CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHAIR QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with at least two years of clinical experience in an outpatient or similar healthcare setting. Demonstrate strong knowledge of medical terminology, patient care procedures, and electronic medical record systems, along with excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Valid driver’s license is required to support potential travel between clinic sites or community outreach services. Exhibit cultural sensitivity and respect for Native American communities, with an understanding of the unique healthcare needs, traditions, and barriers faced by Native populations, ensuring compassionate and culturally appropriate care. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide nursing services to patients under Clinic Physician direction and orders Take and record vital signs, prepare patients for exams and procedures, administer medications, collect specimens, and assist provider with procedures and exams. Provide patient education on medications, treatment, and follow-up care. Assist patients with Contract Health (CHS) referrals, appointments, and follow-up procedures. Order lab/medical supplies when needed Performs other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned by the immediate supervisor or controlling supervisor. All new hires will be required by the Kaw Nation to submit to a pre employment drug screen and background check. Failure to pass the drug screen or the background check will lead to withdrawal of the job offer or termination of employment.
