About The Position

SUMMARY: Oversee all health and medical related issues that affect the agency and the clients served in the community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties include the following but are not considered an inclusive list. Maintains a valid driver's license. Administers order medications and performs needed medical procedures as needed or determined by the supervisor. Rotates with other members of the nursing department for call as scheduled. Maintains and oversees medication storage once monthly in Friendship housing. Assesses physical complaints of clients and documents complaints, any physical findings and any treatment rendered. Performs regular nail care for diabetic patients. Will maintain a log and document appropriately. Assists with on-the-job training of new employees regarding medication and first aid. Assists with Surveillance of the residential facilities and waiver homes to ensure compliance with health and safety policies. Monitors the health status of high-risk clients and documents on appropriate forms. Monitors recently hospitalized or newly admitted patients. Performs dressing changes as ordered by a physician. Confers with local / regional doctors in medical management as the need arises. Reviews and updates medication records as needed of waiver clients. Provides health / hygiene training to staff and clients as needed. Provides routine medical information to parents / guardians as requested. Coordinates medical and health related matters with coordinator, nursing staff, and case manager. Maintains up to date certification in CPR / First Aid. Maintains a valid and up to date nursing license. Follow up on assigned nursing tasks and orders. Performs admissions as directed by the RN supervisor. Participates in conferences and in service training as required. Works with other nurses to provide coverage for vacations and or illness of any nurse in FCC. Update MARS with any medication / treatment changes received. Notify day programs of any medication changes that will affect their medication passes. Request Medication clarification as needed. Documentation and follow up for MARKS reports in the clinic as notified by the STAR nurse. Completes weekly reports to clinical Nurse Manager. Handles safety checks at various facilities assigned. This is a safety sensitive position. Maintains confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care, Inc. and the clients. Conditions of confidentiality shall be in compliance with Friendship Community Care Non-Disclosure Policy and HIPAA Policies. Consumers’ progress notes be maintained and completed daily or as needed on the prescribed forms. Consumers’ records must be maintained weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly. All information must be filed in consumers’ records as needed and updated as prescribed by funding sources. Requirements

  • Must hold Arkansas Practical Nurse's License.
  • Must meet clearance specifications through OLTC Registry check system.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Must be computer literate and capable of operating basic office machines.
  • Practical Nursing Degree from a two-year accredited college or technical school and six months to one-year related experience.
  • Must hold a current Arkansas LPN license in good standing.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental relations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Program Administrators, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate ratio, percentage, draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to compute drug dosages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

  • Some clerical experience is desired.
