About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care in a Pediatric Bio Behavioral Unit, supporting children and adolescents with behavioral and psychiatric needs. This role requires prior behavioral health experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team in an acute or inpatient care setting.

Requirements

  • Active New York State LPN license
  • Ability to obtain or maintain current CPR certification
  • Minimum of 1 year of LPN experience
  • Psychiatric/behavioral health experience required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to function independently with minimal orientation and supervision

  • Prior pediatric nursing experience
  • Inpatient or acute care experience
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct nursing care to pediatric behavioral health patients under the direction of an RN or provider
  • Perform patient intake, rooming, and preparation for examinations
  • Measure, record, and monitor vital signs and patient progress
  • Assist providers during examinations and procedures, including injections and other clinical interventions
  • Administer injections and medications as ordered and within scope of practice
  • Observe patient responses to treatments and report changes to the care team
  • Implement nursing care activities as outlined in individualized nursing care plans
  • Maintain exam rooms and ensure cleanliness and readiness of all clinical areas
  • Provide support with general office and clinical duties, including reception and scheduling assistance
  • Assist with chart preparation, filing, and documentation
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team
  • Participate in unit-based activities and nursing unit management initiatives
  • Care of pediatric patients with behavioral, emotional, and psychiatric conditions
  • Support of therapeutic and safety-focused care environments
  • Collaboration with behavioral health specialists and pediatric providers
