About The Position

The Licensed Mental Health Professional will deliver mental health services to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, including assessments, therapy, and treatment planning for individuals with mental health disorders. This role will ensure the delivery of evidence-based care, maintain accurate patient records, and collaborate with medical and clinical staff to provide comprehensive patient care. The Licensed Mental Health Professional will also work to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Requirements

A valid state(s) license, certificate, and/or credentials documenting ability to practice in applicable role (i.e. LMHP, LPC, LICSW, etc.).
1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional healthcare or similar environment.
Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved) prior to start date.

Nice To Haves

Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment is preferred.
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the correctional setting is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, adhere to protocols, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced, structured environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct patient assessments.
Provide crisis management and short-term, solution-focused therapy as needed, including therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services.
Utilize DSM-5 criteria to evaluate patients and apply appropriate interventions.
Develop and initiate interdisciplinary treatment plans; participate in ongoing treatment planning and case management.
Collaborate with all healthcare staff members and correctional staff to coordinate patient care and treatment.
Consult with other professionals regarding therapeutic approaches and treatment adjustments.
Document patient activities, treatment progress, and any changes in care plans.
Adhere to established policies, procedures, professional standards, and all federal, state, and local guidelines.
Comply with continuous quality improvement, safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
Follow MEDIKO's Standards of Professional Conduct.
Respond to requests from correctional staff and MEDIKO staff in accordance with facility guidelines and conduct standards.
Follow the facility's rules, regulations, and chain of command while working within the detention/correctional environment.
