About The Position

The Licensed Athletic Trainer II provides comprehensive athletic health care in accordance with an evaluation and treatment protocol that is established by the athletic trainer and approved by the consulting physician. The athletic training services include: injury or illness prevention programs; evaluation, management, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries or illness sustained during physical activity; and giving emergency care or first aid for an injury or illness sustained while participating in physical activity. The Licensed Athletic Trainer II participates in other department activities designed to enhance patient/athlete care and programs. In addition, demonstrates advanced athletic training skills and is involved in program development, staff education and student supervision. Also demonstrates emerging leadership skills and mentors department staff. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of experience meeting requirements of Level I responsibilities as determined by interview and assessment.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited Athletic Training program or a related field is required.
  • Must be proficient at all LAT level 1 competencies, maintain productivity level and have the potential to take on additional responsibilities. May require clinical expertise in specific discipline.
  • State of Wisconsin licensure as an Athletic Trainer is required.
  • Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC) is required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
