About The Position

Be part of the solution to the behavioral health crisis. As a team member for ND Department of Health & Human Services, you will ensure the most vulnerable have access to a high-quality healthcare system in which prevention works, treatment is effective, and people recover. As an Addiction Counselor, you will provide individuals opportunity for recovery management so they can live and work independently in their home community. You will thrive in this position, if you are committed to a rehabilitative and person-centered philosophy and comfortable providing services in homes and communities. Services are provided in homes and communities, and therefore, travel is a norm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling, Addiction Studies, Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology
  • Current licensure as an Addiction Counselor (LAC) by the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Successful completion of the assigned defensive driving course during new-hire orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct level-of-care screenings and assist in developing integrated service plans.
  • Provide short-term individual, family, and group counseling.
  • Deliver crisis intervention and risk assessments both in the office and in community settings.
  • Offer education and consultation to families, community partners, interns, and residents.
