About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse will focus on providing high level patient-centered care in a physician office setting by measuring and recording vital signs, placing patients in exam rooms, preparing patients for exams/procedures, assisting the health care provider with exams/procedures, providing patient support during exams, maintaining medical supply inventory, and stocking exam rooms. The LPN will also provide patient care by administering medications, processing patient phone calls per practice protocols, instructing patients regarding health care and treatments, and providing health care provider with information pertaining to patients' health status. May be required to float to other UFHP practices, as needed, for staffing. The Medical Assistant provides patient care in a physician's office setting under the direct responsibility of a licensed physician. Clinical skills performed are within the scope of a Medical Assistant as defined by Florida Statutes 458.3485 and UFHP Clinical Policy and Procedure. The MA may also perform clerical, insurance, and medical record functions. May be required to float to other UFHP practices, as needed, for staffing.

Requirements

  • Current Licensed LPN eligible to practice in the State of Florida
  • Graduate of an accredited course of study as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
  • EMT license can be used in lieu of an MA certification
  • Must possess and maintain current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant
  • AHA or Red Cross Basic Life Support (CPR) is required or must be obtained within first 90 days of employment
  • Must maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • Must successfully complete medication test within 30 days of hire
  • Display initiative and have the ability to multitask
  • Outstanding patient/customer service skills, verbal clarity, team focus, and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to assume additional responsibilities
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and be a team member

Nice To Haves

  • One year of ambulatory care or hospital experience (for LPN role)
  • One year of direct patient care experience in an ambulatory care setting (for MA role)
