About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Florida State Prison in the Education Department. The mission of the Library Technical Assistants at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to support the educational and rehabilitative efforts of the institution by providing inmates with access to a variety of informational, educational, and recreational reading materials. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves. JOB DUTIES: Processes inmate requests and grievances related to general and law library services, ensuring timely responses and availability of the library for a minimum of 25 hours per week. Supervises and assigns research duties to inmate clerks and aides, monitors their activities, evaluates their performance for gain time review, and initiates disciplinary actions as needed. Monitors the check-out and return of library materials, interlibrary loan processing, and use of the copy machine, ensuring accuracy of records. Performs photocopying, maintains inventory of supplies, and manages library resources in accordance with rules and statutes. Collects data, compiles reports for librarian approval, and forwards law library invoices and charge forms. Requirements

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
