About The Position

This position supports students and teachers through library and media services, assisting with instruction by integrating literature and technology resources. Candidates with library and technology experience are preferred, along with a strong commitment to creating a library media center that fosters student learning. The role requires the ability to build an engaging learning environment that encourages reading, effective use of digital resources, internet safety, and keyboarding skills. The ideal candidate will personalize instructional support to meet diverse student needs, manage technology resources (including online subscriptions and book checkout systems), and help cultivate a positive community of learners while effectively managing student behavior. This position also involves collaboration with school staff to align media center resources with curricular goals. Responsibilities may include providing whole-class and small-group instruction, performing clerical tasks, supervising and redirecting students, and offering feedback to teachers regarding individual student support. Additional duties may include supervising students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and/or recess, as well as fostering strong, positive relationships within the school community.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Current First Aid and CPR (or obtained within first six months of employment).
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to change.
  • Possesses computer and technology skills.
  • Effectively works with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Collaborates well with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Capable of understanding and following both complex oral and written instructions.
  • Able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates effectively with the School District community.
  • Skilled in analysis, instruction, negotiation, coordination, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal interactions.
  • Proficient in comparing, computing, synthesizing, and evaluating information.
  • Meets attendance standards and works the necessary hours to fulfill essential responsibilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Upholds a generally positive attitude.
  • Complies with all District policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 10 (ten) pounds.
  • Occasional lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Frequent sitting, bending, walking, and standing.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and support small groups of students.
  • Promote a learning environment that respects the dignity of the child and is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
  • Support a learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
  • Encourage a learning environment that is safe for responding and questioning, even for the shyest student.
  • Elicit responses from every member of the group.
  • Ensure understanding of material by all students.
  • Lead multi-level students to work together effectively.
  • Organize and host events designed to encourage home and school partnerships.
  • Establish student, staff and parental rapport that allows for a proactive response to potential problems.
  • Provide student supervision in groups, at recess, at lunch, and on field trips.
  • Actively participate in PLCs and other required training.
  • Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to support instructional programming.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
