About The Position

Interacts with library patrons to assist them in selecting materials or meeting informational needs. Explains the use of reference sources such as bibliographic indexes or computer assisted reference tools. Searches catalog, databases and print sources to answer patron inquiries. Assists with collection development and maintenance. Plans and conducts tours and programs. Assembles and arranges displays and bibliographies of books and other library material. Assists and/or instructs other employees with their duties. Performs database maintenance. Develop, perform and/or manage youth services programming. Plan and perform school visits and other outreach activities. Catalogs and classifies library materials such as books, audiovisual materials, etc. Provides bibliographic control using MARC Records. Creates records, changes holding, using and automated system. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One year job related experience
  • Requires evening and weekend work.
  • Computer skills; good verbal and written communication, organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials
  • Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
