About The Position

Interacts with library patrons to assist them in selecting materials or meeting informational needs. Explains the use of reference sources such as bibliographic indexes or computer assisted reference tools. Searches catalog, databases and print sources to answer patron inquiries. Assists with collection development and maintenance. Plans and conducts tours and programs. Assembles and arranges displays and bibliographies of books and other library materials. Assists and/or instructs other employees with their duties. Performs database maintenance. Develops, performs and/or manages youth services programming. Plans and performs school visits and other outreach activities. Catalogs and classifies library materials such as books, audiovisual materials, etc. Provides bibliographic control using MARC Records. Creates records, changes holding, using an automated system. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • One year job related experience.
  • Computer skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication including interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
  • Requires evening and weekend work.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience working with children in groups is preferred.
