About The Position
Brooklyn Public Library is one of the nation’s largest library systems and among New York City’s most democratic institutions. They offer thousands of free programs every day for people from all walks of life—immigrants learning a new language, aspiring entrepreneurs launching their dreams, children discovering the world, people of all ages exploring arts and culture. They provide patrons millions of opportunities to enjoy the discovery of a good book. The Library Page assists branch staff with day-to-day library operations including customer service, circulation and maintenance. This is a part-time position with a salary of $17.00 per hour for up to a 19-hour workweek. The organization seeks professionals dedicated to providing excellent customer service, developing fruitful partnerships in the community, and implementing programs aligned with their mission and vision. Requirements
- High school graduate or current student
- Valid working papers (if under 18)
- Demonstrated literacy skills including reading & alphabetizing
- Ability to take direction and work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal & external customers
- Detail oriented
- Requires ability to bend, lift, reach and stand
Responsibilities
- Shelves books and materials
- Performs routine clerical duties
- Assists with branch programs and activities
- May assist with circulation duties
- Maintains/organizes shelves
- Provides assistance to patrons
- Other duties as assigned
