About The Position

This role is for a Library Media Specialist at Benton High School. The specialist is expected to demonstrate strong knowledge of content, pedagogy, and student development, including individual needs and skills. Key responsibilities include selecting and using appropriate resources, adhering to IEP and 504 plans, and designing rigorous lessons, activities, and assessments aligned with learning standards. The specialist must foster a respectful and positive learning environment, manage classroom procedures effectively, and supervise students. Communication with students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators is crucial for addressing academic and behavioral issues. The role demands high expectations, effective lesson delivery, strong questioning and discussion techniques, and timely, high-quality student feedback. The specialist should use assessments during instruction, be flexible and responsive to student learning, and reflect on teaching to improve student achievement. Administrative duties include maintaining accurate records, managing classroom equipment and supplies, and communicating with families. Professional responsibilities involve participating in the professional community, engaging in continuous professional growth, and exhibiting professionalism with all stakeholders. The specialist is also required to report suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse, enforce school policies, attend professional meetings and development sessions, assist in student supervision in various school areas, and sponsor extracurricular activities. Requirements

  • Must have current Arkansas teaching license and certification for the grade level or subject area assigned to.

Responsibilities
