About The Position

The University of New Mexico–Valencia Library seeks a Library Information Specialist III to join our small, dedicated team committed to providing exceptional service, resources, and support to our campus community. This position plays a vital role in the daily operations of the library, contributing to service improvement initiatives and helping foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for all users. The Library Information Specialist III oversees and supports key aspects of library operations, including student employee supervision, circulation, resource sharing (Inter-library Loan/Document Delivery), course reserves, information and research help, and collection maintenance. The ideal candidate is an adaptable, service-oriented professional who values collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, career and technical programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 2,000 students per semester. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated skill in the use of databases and Library Management Systems.
  • Experience working with under-prepared students and awareness of the library’s role in facilitating student success in a community college.
  • Experience providing public service and reference support in an academic library setting.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
  • Experience in library instruction, outreach, or staff/student employee training.
