About The Position

Are you passionate about community and ready to lead engaging programs? We're looking for an enthusiastic Library Assistant to join our team, focusing on a special grant-funded project dedicated to serving our older adult community. 💡 The Opportunity This is a seasonal, part-time position (up to 16 hours per week ) running through June 30, 2026 . Your main focus will be bringing educational, recreational, and cultural events to life for older adults every Friday morning.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Six (6) months of customer service experience (required).
  • Experience working with older adults (required).
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs (Microsoft Word and Publisher).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass a background check, drug screen, and provide a clean driving record.
  • All qualified applicants must pass a pre-employment testing including but not limited to: Background check (18 years of age and older), Driving Record Review, Drug Screen, and Human Performance Evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership: You will plan, budget, and execute weekly Friday morning programs and manage a monthly book club.
  • Community Connection: Collaborate with local organizations and use social media to promote and grow our older adult services.
  • Patron Support: Provide crucial reference, reader's advisory, and technology assistance to older patrons.
  • General Library Duties: Support the library by processing materials, assisting patrons at the circulation desk, and helping with programs for children and parents.
