About The Position

The Library and Technology Support Specialist provides district-wide technical and operational support for school librarians and media staff. This role serves as a liaison between the Technology Department and library/media programs across the district. The specialist provides front-line triage for support requests-particularly those related to the Alexandria library system and IncidentIQ-and assists with general technology support as assigned. This position is not assigned to a single school site and will support all schools based on district priorities.

Requirements

  • Ability to use effective communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Alexandria Library Management System and IncidentIQ
  • Ability to use time effectively and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors)
  • Basic technical troubleshooting experience (Chromebooks, printers, peripheral devices knowledge of physiological
  • Experience supporting staff in a K-12 school environment
  • Familiarity with Chromebook hardware

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact between the Technology Department and school library/media specialists.
  • Assists librarians in submitting and tracking technology support requests in IncidentIQ.
  • Assesses and resolves basic technical issues related to Alexandria, Chromebooks, printers, and other devices used within the library/media environment.
  • Supports Chromebook repair efforts under the guidance of the Technology Department.
  • Provides general technology support beyond library/media systems as assigned.
  • Serves as a point of contact for parents regarding concerns or questions related to Chromebook repairs, providing guidance on procedures, timelines, and available support.
  • Travels regularly to schools across the district to provide on-site assistance.
  • Documents support activities, resolutions, and equipment usage within district systems.
  • Collaborates with technology staff to support new initiatives and ensure smooth operation of instructional and library-related technologies.
  • Maintains confidentiality and upholds district policies on data security and appropriate use of systems.
  • Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations, coursework, workshops, and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees, taskforces, in-depth studies, or councils).
  • Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District.
  • Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model.
