About The Position

Directs the activities of the Coronado Center Library and is responsible for it's overall operation and resources.

Requirements

  • College degree in Library Science.
  • Consideration will be given to an individual without a college degree if he/she can demonstrate strengths in certain key areas such as written and oral communication skills and an ability to interact well with the public and some library experience is necessary.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook – Destiny, projector set-up and use.

  • Experience in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service to library users.
  • Ability to make decisions and supervise the work of the library volunteers.
  • Work with Supervisor to assist with preparation of annual budget, oversee expenditures and provide financial reports when needed.
  • Basic knowledge of library terminology, principles, methods and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Establish hours to meet the needs of the community.
  • Select and purchase books and periodicals for the library to reflect the desires of the community.
  • Report on problem areas and recommend procedural changes.
  • Respond to all monetary and book donations to the library.
  • Oversee the marking and shelving of books.
  • Coordinate with the Supervisor on building maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Prepare circulation count and library related reports when requested.
  • Be aware of community needs and establish rapport with library supporters.
  • Oversee the cataloging of books, audio tapes, videos and other library material.
  • Follow all POA purchasing procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Recruit, train and in-service library volunteers on a regular basis.
  • Be responsible for the cleaning and proper care of the office equipment, i.e. computer, printers and cash register.
  • Publicize library in different media - newspapers, website, organizations.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • May be required to drive POA vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting POA business.
  • Any other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service, making every effort to accommodate customer needs.
  • Ensure the safety of patrons and staff through accident prevention and safety policy, enforcing all facility and recreation location rules and regulations.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of rules, regulations and operational use with regard to POA amenity use.
  • Maintain a safe, clean amenity/facility at all times.
