About The Position

St. Thomas Aquinas, a faith-filled Catholic school community, is seeking a passionate and organized School Librarian to serve students in grades K–8. This individual will play a vital role in cultivating a love of reading, supporting literacy development, and fostering a welcoming library environment rooted in Catholic social justice values. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, promote lifelong learning, and collaborate with staff to enrich the academic and spiritual growth of all students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; degree or certification in Library Science, Education, or a related field preferred
  • Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Passion for children's literature and literacy development
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the school library collection, including cataloging, organizing, and updating materials to meet the needs and interests of students and staff
  • Prepare, maintain, and document library budgets
  • Plan and teach engaging weekly library classes for students in grades K–8, promoting literacy skills, research habits, and a love of reading
  • Guide students in selecting appropriate and meaningful reading materials
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support curriculum and integrate library resources into instruction
  • Coordinate and lead school-wide literacy events such as book fairs, author visits, and reading initiatives
  • Work closely with staff and volunteers to organize and execute library programs and events
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and faith-centered library environment
  • Encourage responsible use of library resources and promote digital citizenship
