About The Position

The role of the Level 2 Process Control Engineer, as outlined by the Purdue Model for Industrial Control Systems, includes, but is not limited to, providing technical expertise to assist, maintain, and improve production systems in the assigned area. Primary job functions include critical reporting of KPIs, engineering improvements to software, web development, database management, integrating machinery for data collection, and project management. Primary goal is to maintain and support production systems within assigned area. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or 2-3 years relevant automation experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Steel/Manufacturing Experience or Steel Processing Knowledge
  • Understanding of statistical methods and data aggregation
  • Database management experience/RDBMS knowledge
  • Understanding of PL/SQL, MSSQL, C, C#, Native OS Syntax
  • OOP, Web Development, Version Control, SCADA/MES Architecture
  • Experience deploying and maintaining Virtual Machines using the Windows, Windows Server, Unix, and Linux OS
  • Network communication protocols such as TCP/IP, ethernet, fiber, Profibus, Modbus, RS232
