About The Position

Legislative Auditor Location: West Tennessee ( Chester, McNairy, Henderson, Madison, and Hardeman counties ) Join us in our mission to make government work better. Examine and review records, reports, financial statements, and management practices. Evaluate financial statement presentation, internal controls, compliance, and operational efficiency and effectiveness. Produce clear, logical, and well-supported workpapers and data analyses. Communicate clearly with auditees, coworkers, elected officials, and stakeholders. Take initiative, seek continuous improvement, and contribute to a collaborative team culture. What We're Looking For Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with at least 24 semester hours in accounting Ability to learn quickly, think critically, problem solve, and produce accurate work Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to work tactfully with coworkers, auditees, and stakeholders Sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (not required but strongly encouraged for advancement) Experience in auditing, governmental accounting, or related fields Logistics Travel: For Local Government Auditors, travel is required but is generally confined to same day commutes to and from a job site. Overnight stays may be required, as necessary. Requirements
