About The Position

Legal Technician This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance to be considered. A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify. The Legal Technician provides administrative and technical support to the U.S. Attorney’s Office by maintaining case records, managing case tracking systems, and assisting legal staff with retrieving and interpreting case data. This role supports the processing of criminal and civil case information, ensures accurate documentation within automated databases, and provides front desk and visitor management support while maintaining office security procedures. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for Legal Technician: $23.88 to $34.66 per hour Pay commensurate with experience. Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with databases, automated record-keeping systems, or case management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and automated reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal

Responsibilities

  • Track criminal and civil cases using an automated record-keeping or case management system.
  • Input, update, and maintain case information within databases to support case tracking and reporting.
  • Extract statistical data and generate reports on a scheduled or ad hoc basis using automated reporting tools.
  • Receive, log, and distribute incoming case files, correspondence, and legal documentation.
  • Review case materials to determine the nature of the Government’s interest and cause of action.
  • Select appropriate computer codes and update databases to record status changes for docketed items.
  • Assist senior technicians, attorneys, and staff in retrieving information from databases and interpreting system outputs.
  • Maintain organized and accurate case records in accordance with office procedures and record-keeping requirements.
  • Provide reception coverage for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
  • Manage visitor access and control procedures, including answering and transferring telephone calls and processing visitors into the office.
  • Assist in enforcing security policies and procedures related to visitors and guests.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
