About The Position

The Legal Team Development Manager will be responsible for creating, implementing, and sustaining the execution of firm-wide initiatives that enhance the efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness of our legal teams across all practice areas. This role requires strong thought-leadership, legal operational knowledge, experience with client billing guidelines, and the ability to engage and train team members while maintaining firm standards for compliance and performance. The Legal Team Development Manager is a proactive leader with exceptional leadership and organizational abilities, capable of working with attorneys and employees at all levels of the firm. This role is essential for overseeing daily legal team operations (i.e., paralegals, legal nurse consultants, etc.), enhancing overall firm performance, and ensuring the delivery of the highest quality legal services to our clients.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a paralegal, legal nurse consultant, legal administrative role, or similar position.
  • Ability to develop tailored development plans, support mentorship initiatives, and promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Proven track record of strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, influence, and lead teams toward high performance while aligning efforts with organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect daily operations with the firm’s broader business strategies, ensuring that all activities align with overarching business objectives and contribute to the firm’s success.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal operations, including familiarity with legal standards, compliance issues, and driving operational efficiency in legal support functions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts and strategies clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, both internal and external.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical abilities, skilled in managing multiple competing priorities and leveraging data to drive decision-making, process improvements, and team performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, nursing (BSN), business administration, or a related field, preferred.
  • Paralegal or Legal Nurse Consultant Certification is a plus.
  • Medical malpractice experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the distribution of workloads across legal teams to maximize billable hours, achieve operational targets, and meet financial goals.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and leadership to align efforts with broader business objectives and ensure overall efficiency and success.
  • Strategically allocate resources to ensure appropriate levels of support for cases and projects.
  • Guarantee that case handling is timely, accurate, and meets both client and firm standards.
  • Partner with internal departments (i.e., Operations, IT) to design and implement best practices, procedures, and workflows that streamline operations, ensure consistency across teams, and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to internal policies, legal standards, client billing guidelines, and industry best practices to maintain the highest levels of quality and compliance in all legal support functions.
  • Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive training programs focused on improving proficiency in legal processes, billing practices, proactive case management, timekeeping accuracy, and other critical areas. Ensure that all employees are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel.
  • Lead mentorship initiatives and cultivate peer support groups to foster collaboration, build community, and promote continuous professional development.
  • Provide direction to legal team members in managing client relationships to ensure a consistent, professional, and seamless experience for clients throughout the lifecycle of cases.
  • Utilize data analytics to assess team productivity, identify trends, and forecast resource needs. Use insights to inform decision-making, improve performance, and support strategic planning initiatives.
  • Prepare and present regular performance reports to firm leadership, highlighting team achievements, operational challenges, and progress towards achieving practice group goals.
  • Continuously monitor industry best practices, legal standards, and emerging technologies to ensure the team remains competitive, efficient, and well-equipped to meet evolving client needs and legal requirements.
