About The Position

The Justice and Public Safety Cabinet is the largest Cabinet in the Commonwealth. The Cabinet is comprised of Kentucky State Police, Department of Criminal Justice Training, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Corrections, Kentucky Law Enforcement Council, as well as other offices. With nearly 8,000 employees and tasked with the responsibility for the Commonwealth’s criminal justice services, the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Office of Legal Services handles a wide range of legal issues every day. Would you like to assist attorneys who represent the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, and its various agencies and employees, in a variety of state, federal, and administrative proceedings?

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Four years of clerical experience.
  • Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
  • Clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite software, including Word and Excel.
  • Organization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting documents on behalf of Cabinet attorneys such as correspondence, affidavits, subpoenas, and basic motions.
  • Formatting, proofreading, editing, and filing documents on behalf of Cabinet attorneys.
  • Documenting management services such as requesting, reviewing, organizing, and maintaining documents needed for litigation.
