Levy & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking a Legal Secretary for their Seattle, Washington Claim Litigation office. This role involves supporting attorneys with calendaring and scheduling, processing mail, and electronic/paper filing. The office fosters collaborative environments with access to peer mentors and offers diversity of work and opportunities for development and advancement. The Legal Secretary will interact with clients, courts, and counsel throughout the litigation process on behalf of the attorney. This is a hybrid position requiring time in the office and virtually, with work arrangements subject to change based on business needs. The standard working hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:15pm. The office is located at 901 5th Avenue, Suite 830, Seattle WA, 98164. The team includes Legal Administrative Support, Legal Secretary, and Paralegal roles.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of recent civil defense litigation secretarial experience
  • Calendaring and scheduling experience within a legal environment
  • Strong organizational skills, prioritizing urgent and non-urgent tasks (items with deadlines, handling demands), multitasking
  • E-filing experience
  • Ability to adapt to a corporate law environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (proofreading, attention to detail, formatting)
  • Accurate typing skills
  • Working knowledge of Washington electronic filing system
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of Case Management system
  • Working knowledge of Document Storage system
  • Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably in insurance defense or personal injury
  • Knowledge of legal and medical terminology, local and state rules regarding pleadings and pre-trial matters, deadlines, and filing requirement (strongly preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Apply specialized knowledge of legal procedures
  • Calendar management, processing incoming mail and emails, electronic/paper filing
  • Schedule litigation events, including depositions, mediations, and hearings
  • Coordinate logistical arrangements for expert examinations and testimony
