The Cincinnati Insurance Companies' Legal Litigation office in Fairfield, Ohio is currently seeking a paralegal to assist attorneys with personal injury litigation and responding to company subpoenas.

Requirements

  • 7 years of civil litigation experience - insurance defense experience preferred; subpoena work a plus
  • excellent organizational and communication skills
  • good follow up practices with attention to detail
  • experience with Microsoft products
  • familiarity with local courts
  • ability to work well with a team and independently
  • ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • ability to handle a variety of work
  • maintain composure and professionalism under pressure
  • maintain strict confidentiality with respect to information learned as a result of involvement with litigation processes

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in preparation for trials, arbitrations, mediations, depositions, etc. and attend when appropriate
  • Assist attorneys in preparation and organization of their files
  • Assist attorneys in answering corporate subpoenas
  • Assist attorneys in conducting factual investigations, including interview of witnesses, and analyze and summarize factual information
  • Attend client, expert and/or witness meetings/depositions when appropriate
  • Collect medical records and bills and review, index, organize, analyze, and summarize them
  • Communicate with court and opposing counsel regarding scheduling matters, hearing dates, filings, etc.
  • File documents in various courts when necessary
  • Index and summarize deposition testimony and exhibits
  • Organize, analyze and prepare exhibits in preparation for trials, arbitrations, mediations, depositions, etc.
  • Prepare discovery requests to other parties
  • Prepare responses to discovery requests from other parties
  • Review, index, organize, analyze, and summarize documents produced by other parties
  • Schedule IMEs and assure that the medical records get to the IME physician in a timely fashion
