The Legal Operations Analyst will serve as a catalyst for change, empowering the Office of the General Counsel to evolve in step with New York Life’s enterprise transformation. Reporting to the Senior Associate, you will be part of a forward-thinking team focused on advancing innovation, technology, and operational excellence. You will work closely with technology, procurement, and operations stakeholders to implement new tools, improve processes, and strengthen a more agile, data-driven, and strategically aligned legal organization. You are a motivated and detail-oriented professional with a strong interest in legal operations, process improvement, and innovation. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are eager to learn how legal departments operate at scale. You bring curiosity, sound judgment, analytical thinking, and a willingness to take ownership of projects while building strong partnerships across teams.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in legal operations, legal project management, consulting, operations, technology, or a related business function (law firm or in-house experience a plus).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders in a large, complex organization.
  • Comfort communicating with and supporting stakeholders at varying levels, including senior leaders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize information for different audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting legal operations and innovation projects in a legal, financial services, or corporate environment.
  • Familiarity with technology enablement tools (e.g., AI, automation, workflow management).
  • Comfort building basic reporting/dashboards and working with data to generate actionable insights.
  • Interest in legal operations trends and a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Support legal operations and innovation initiatives focused on improving workflows, service delivery, and operational effectiveness across OGC.
  • Assist with the evaluation, implementation, and adoption of legal technology solutions, including intake triage tool, workflow tools, analytics, and emerging AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Help manage projects related to process improvement, knowledge management, intake, and reporting, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, metrics, and reporting to support operational insights and leadership decision-making.
  • Own discrete workstreams and drive deliverables with minimal oversight.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (legal teams, finance, IT, procurement) to support budgeting, vendor management, and resource planning activities.
  • Prepare presentations, documentation, and communications to support change management, training, and adoption of new processes or tools.
  • Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement that sustains operational excellence and innovation.
