Are you ready to explore, learn, and lead? Join us this summer at CSBS in Washington, DC, and take the next step in your career! The Legal Intern will work with the Office of General Counsel (OGC). The OGC is responsible for advising on and managing any legal matter including general corporate governance, risk and compliance, corporate policies and procedures, employment, privacy, intellectual property and data rights, and leases/contracts. OGC also assists with legislative and policy matters.

Requirements

  • Current law school student or pending first year law student.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Background in legal research and strong writing skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Due to the nature of CSBS’s business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies (“Confidential Supervisory Information”). As a result, in addition to general business conflicts of interest, all CSBS employees are expected to disclose conflicts of interest in financial services companies on at least an annual basis and to proactively avoid such conflicts.
  • Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of CSBS information and information systems in accordance with CSBS policies and procedures.
  • Candidate must be in the DC area and able to work in the CSBS office as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Research state and federal financial services law and non-profit corporate compliance law.
  • Study trends and best practices in procurement, including contract and vendor management.
  • Evaluate trends and best practices in risk management for non-profits.
  • Present and communicate to the team on research performed.
